On September 9, 2021, the President of the United States announced that all federal branch employees, federal contractors, healthcare workers, and employees of companies with one hundred or more workers must be vaccinated or receive a weekly COVID test. This, in its effect on the American people, is a federal vaccine mandate. President Biden stated himself that this would affect ‘about 100 million Americans, two-thirds of all workers.’ Two-thirds of all workers are forced to receive the vaccine, regardless of personal or religious conviction, or else lose their livelihood. We, the members of the Mises Caucus of Florida but more importantly Americans with natural rights given to us by our creator, stand opposed to this authoritarian attack by President Biden and his administration. From where did the President get the authority to proclaim this executive order? Nowhere in the Constitution does it state that the President may enforce medical procedures on the American people! Nowhere even does it state that Congress may make such a law! The elitist leaders in DC have no respect for the common people! We are not anti-vaccine. We believe that vaccination is a personal decision that each individual should carefully consider. No American should lose their job because of vaccination status. This is tyranny! The President even said, ‘This is not about freedom or personal choice.” The President himself states that this is not about freedom, but rather safety.
We are reminded of the words of Benjamin Franklin, ‘those who sacrifice safety for security deserve neither.’ We have seen our leaders such as President Biden and Dr. Anthony Fauci lie to us time after time. We have seen federal and state governments impose tyrannical lockdowns and mask mandates. We, the Mises Caucus, stand opposed to the blatant power grab by President Biden. We own our own bodies, not the government. Vaccination is a personal choice. In surrendering our right to determine our own healthcare decisions to the government, we surrender our very lives and personhood to the government. WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH! We are calling on the Florida Legislature to nullify this edict. We are calling on localities to nullify this edict. We are calling for the working men and women of our nation to stand firm and to fight against this edict. Like Thomas Jefferson said almost two hundred and fifty years ago, ‘that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it…’ That time has come. The elites have failed us. The elites in both parties have lied to us. We are calling all Liberty-loving Americans, whether left or right, to join us now in our fight.
