The LPF Mises Caucus hosted Lee Williams, the Communications Director for FloridaCarry.org Wednesday evening. An energetic discussion ensued concerning how Libertarians can bring pressure on our State and Federal Representatives to support our 2nd Amendment rights. Of major and immediate concern is the looming nomination of David Chipman to head the ATF.
Mr. Chipman has worked at the ATF for 25 years and is also now a top adviser to Giffords, a group that advocates for stricter gun laws. If his nomination is confirmed, then perhaps you better take your guns fishing. But don’t fire up the outboard right away. He isn’t running the ATF yet. And we, Libertarians, must do everything we can to prevent this man’s confirmation in the Senate. And all you have to do is take a few moments to:
- Email Senators Rubio and Scott and tell them that you oppose David Chipman’s nomination.
- Call the local office for your area and tell their assistants the same thing.
- If you have the time, call their other local offices too. You’re not voting in an election; you’re just making sure your voice gets heard.
- Emails can be deleted. For greater impact pick up a pen and paper. The sheer novelty of receiving a letter from a voter will make an impression.
Imagine the look on their faces when they hear that hundreds of voters called to tell them that how they do in the next election hangs on their confirmation vote.
